Ocean Beach, CA
This 3 story, contemporary Ocean Beach, CA. home has a rooftop deck
overlooking southern San Diego beaches. The home is owned by a young, professional couple who loved to travel and surf. Their style is casual, artistic, and casually elegant. They are world travelers, and are attracted to indigenous design materials, patterns and textures. They love to collect and display the artifacts and art they discover.
The project began as a two bath renovation and eventually progressed to other areas of the interior and then exterior, including changing floor finishes, designing a cable lighting system, new kitchen counter tops, new bedroom furnishings, designing an art & reading room, TV lounge, and new exterior paint and finishes.
The most challenging aspect of this project was the couple's preference to stay in the home during the extensive renovation. This required diligent project management in staging the project so that the couple could move from one clean, ready and inhabitable area to another as the demolition and the dusty, dirty, construction work was completed.
The most delightful part of the project was the open mindedness of the couple when new or unfamiliar ideas were presented by the Designer. They relished
the creative flow and stepping out beyond their level of comfort. Fortunately, they had terrific taste and only considered high quality goods and finishes for their home. The confluence of all of these happy elements made the project great fun.
