In Ladera Ranch, California, a Mediterranean inspired estate contemplated a kitchen renovation. With its lush landscape, tailored architecture, the home conveyed, a modern Spanish home overlooking the Mediterranean. A literal architectural-interpretation wouldn’t work for this home, instead October 5 designed a modern interpretation hinting at the home’s Mediterranean style.

The family enjoys evening meals together while catching up on the day’s adventures. Although Mom is the executive-chef, everyone participates. The design focused on three features; multiple workstations, in-kitchen dining, and light-handed architectural design.

This project showcases Crystal’s custom cabinetry. Our Crystal representative, Steve Dickey says, “If you can imagine it, Crystal can build it.” He is spot-on, and the client couldn’t be happier. Crystal also built the trestle table using the quarter sawn white oak and finish as the auxiliary island and entertainment center.

Many of the cabinets are factory joined. For example, the auxiliary island, 30” deep and nearly 10’ in length, was constructed, finished, and shipped as one unit. The two-piece banquette with soft close lids was easily biscuit-joined on site.
