A draftswoman and project manager from Washington, DC, who builds and remodels oceanographic research vessels, moved west with her three children, eventually setting roots in Seal Beach, California. In 1971 she purchased a modest home in the beachside community, where she raised her children and live for the remainder of her life.

The home built in 1956, served the family well, and holds a sacred space for the children. She required live-in care during the later years of her life. The children, miles away, alternated weekly visit, until a grandson moved in and took over the caretaking.

The family eventually faced the decision of what to do with the house. With so much history and tremendous family memories, it was decided that the house would remain in the family trust. And who should steward this family jewel, the grandson of ‘course.

A 64 years old home without any changes, modification or upgrades, surely would be in need of updating. A generous gift to the grandson, the siblings remodeled the family home for him. What a way to say thanks?
