Lakeview Residence - Traditional

This small city backyard offered a lot of opportunity. Before the re-design the backyard was entirely covered in concrete pavers, which created an unpleasant environment. This is a secondary home for the clients and they wanted the new backyard to be colorful and full of life. They entertain guests primarily on the garage roof deck, so the backyard garden would serve as a beautiful transition between home and garage. Guests could have a glass of wine in the garden before moving to the upper garage deck.

The planting scheme is comprised of a mix of perennials and ornamental grasses arranged to soften the harsh edges of the surrounding garage, home, and fencing. The plants were chosen for their sturdy structure, long bloom time, and low maintenance qualities.

The new patio, stair landings, and pathways were constructed with natural bluestone. The bluestone compliments the brick on the home and garage as well as the purple, blue, and white flowering perennials in the garden.
