Laurelhurst Remodel
We collaborated with DeForest Architects and Ore Studios to update a 1930s Tudor, retaining the qualities that give the home its vintage character while reimagining the interior flow and indoor-outdoor connections. To preserve and enhance the character of the original Tudor, we repointed the brickwork and sourced matching brick from a demolished Seattle building for chimney extensions and new garden walls that felt like they were always there. To improve the flow of the interior, we installed steel beams that enable larger openings between the main spaces. An expansive kitchen in a new location serves as the hub of the home and opens to a side-yard garden through a steel and glass-covered patio.
