Ledge Outcropped Home with View
Careful attention paid to positioning the house along with the home's natural stone base gives the illusion that the structure is growing out of the surrounding landscape. The vertical lines of the projecting living room serve as a counter-point to the horizontal massing of the main body of the house. The clients requested an interior that was clean, crisp and reflected the minimalistic simplicity of detail found in Oriental architecture. A palette of curving plaster walls, fir paneling, mahogany, oak, black granite and steel are combined into a playfully sculpted interior.
