Light-Filled Addition

The mission: a bright, open family gathering spot where dining, cooking, homework, and recreation could all be connected. Our solution: an airy, renovated kitchen overlooking a sunroom-style addition providing a continuous dining/living space, with a dramatic fireplace and French doors opening onto a new flagstone patio. Also in the mandate were a new single garage addition and super-functional mudroom/laundry entry. A sliding barn door between the dining area and mudroom entry received splashes of color by decorative painting artist Judy McCoubrey. Just off the kitchen there’s an office niche and a powder room with a cheerful yellow pocket door.

The client commissioned a beautiful custom-painted barn door from local artist Judy McCoubrey. This doorway provides access through the dining and living room to the mudroom and garages.

This new mudroom addition provides the client with additional storage and a place to do laundry. The mudroom connects both garage bays and the house through a short hallway, allowing for a small buffer between the interior and exterior spaces.
