This master bathroom remodel is one of our latest design projects. We took an existing master bathroom, which had plenty of room but not very much functionality and turned it into a zen-like oasis that maximized the space and added many unique features. The clients did not like their 80’s bathroom that was dark and under utilized. There was no separation for the toilet area and the corner tub was unused. They also had very little vanity space and wanted a more accessible shower because they were aging and were anticipating their changing needs. With a complete rearrangement of the room we were also able to get them a door that lead directly out to their deck and hot tub.
The material palette was developed to induce a sense of calm and lightness. We provide a contrast to the cream and beige palette with a rich Jatoba wood for the vanities and a little sparkle with pale green glass tiles and light fixtures. The multiple floor materials were used to emphasize the different zones of the bathroom. The main area was delineated with a wood style ceramic tile and the shower and toilet areas were delineated with a pebble floor. The pebble floor helped coordinate the overall palette of colors and provided a more textural surface in the wet area.
