This unique home designed by local architect Don Sever was a masterpiece that was difficult to inhabit. The clients wanted the strong masculine architecture to be tempered with a rich tapestry that represented their worldly travels. One of the most difficult solutions was how to locate a large screen television within the space that had no significant wall space. The solution was a tv located within an antique chinese sideboard that remotely raised up in front of the window.
The clients were concerned that they would never be able to sit more than 4 people in this room that functioned as the main living space and hallway to the upstairs. The final layout accommodates 7 people comfortably with a few extra that can sit on floor pillows or the fireplace hearth.
The wingback chair was a custom reupholstery project that transformed a stodgy family memento into an caravan of ethnic fabrics and details.
