Manchester By the Sea Kitchen

The client had a closed in kitchen that was somewhat dark and did not allow for natural light to come in and constricted the flow of traffic when they hosted guests. The solution was to remove a two way door and part of an existing wall and create a half wall and countertop as show in the photos. We also installed a new wine rack, oven and most importantly a hood that was low profile and could be ducted up through the space above. The hood took a lot of thought and careful planning - we did not want to place it too low as people would not be able to see each other through the new opening yet we needed it low enough so the unit would still be functional and operate effectively when cooking. The end result is shown in the photos. The extended shelf works great as a bar top to allow for friends and kids to sit on stools while others are cooking or congregating in the kitchen. We added new lighting above the bar and in the kitchen area and had to patch in to match the existing flooring.
