The scope of the project was to give the exterior of the existing house a contemporary look. This consisted of removing the roof eaves and adding parapets around the existing sloped roofs. The second story is finished in fiber cement panels with painted vertical redwood battens spaced at varying distances to give a syncopated rhythm. This pattern ties into a somewhat similar, but different pattern at the first floor street elevation. Here the lines are horizontal formed by gaps between various widths of fiber cement boards, which continues on the south facade on the studio building. Smooth white integral color stucco finishes off the other areas.
