Master Bathroom Retreat

This master bathroom remodel began from two primary requirements. The first was a basic functional desire to remove the existing unused soaking tub to create a larger shower space. The second requirement was to create a new modern bathroom that reflected the true personality of the homeowners. To minimize costs it was important to keep the existing rough plumbing locations intact. A few subtle changes to the floor plan allowed the overall feel and flow of the bathroom space to be improved. The existing closet’s new access and configuration maximized hanging and storage space. Removing the toilet room door and adjacent walls increased the perceived bathroom volume while still maintaining a sense of privacy. A new window opening was established as a result of the new shower configuration and to maximize the opportunity to bring in valuable daylight to energize the space. New lighting was added for functionality and to accent walls which displayed the client’s original artwork. Lastly, a simple but bold palette of materials was selected to create a spa-like environment that allowed the space to be a relaxing retreat for the homeowner’s.
