Raymar Residence Kitchen
As time has passed, the 1925 built Raymar home has undergone many remodels and cultural changes. These changes have produced a dysfunctional, outdated and cumbersome arrangement. The design solution focused on improving each function and creating better flow through the space. The first significant change was relocating the bathroom near the rear entry. This enabled the largest volume of space to be utilized for a new u-shaped kitchen. The range/ hood and island became the central feature of the space. The primary interior entry point into the kitchen was awkward so a new curved stair landing was added to create a comfortable transition. This curve was continued to form the bench seat which anchored the breakfast table. A planning center as well as a walk-in pantry was integrated into the design. White classic cabinetry, curved details and wood flooring were selected to marry the kitchen with the existing architecture and material palette.
