Serene and Minimal: Custom Maple Cabinetry for a Connecticut Guest Cottage

Tucked away in Old Lyme, Connecticut, this modern guest cottage balances simplicity and warmth. In collaboration with Block Design Build, we crafted custom cabinetry throughout the home to complement the quiet, natural feel of the space.

The kitchen features our maple veneer plywood cabinetry, finished with a soft white Osmo wood wax. The grain peeks through just enough to bring natural texture into the clean, minimalist layout. With flat fronts and seamless storage, the cabinetry helps the space stay calm and uncluttered — perfect for a weekend retreat.

We carried the same material palette into the bathroom vanity and storage cabinetry, creating a cohesive look across the small home. The details are minimal, but the craftsmanship makes them feel refined.

One of our favorite elements? The custom built-in daybed. It’s more than just a cozy place to relax — it includes integrated firewood storage and deep drawers below, blending comfort with utility in a clean-lined design.
