Vintage-Inspired Kitchen Remodel
A Colorful Vintage-Inspired Kitchen in Greenfield, MA
This Greenfield kitchen remodel is a perfect blend of mid-century charm and modern craftsmanship. Designed for a creative local couple (and their pup, Lola!), the space now feels full of personality — colorful, functional, and warm.
We built custom base cabinets in maple veneer plywood, finished in our own Cranberry wood wax blend. The soft red tone brings depth and energy to the kitchen without overwhelming it, while the exposed plywood edges give a subtle, modern touch. Everything was handcrafted in our shop, with durability and daily use in mind.
Rather than replace the original upper cabinets, the homeowners chose to repaint them in a creamy white — preserving a piece of the home’s history and creating a playful, color-blocked contrast with the deep red base cabinetry. Satin brass knobs help tie it all together.
The design is full of thoughtful details:
– A William Morris Fruit wallpaper brings vintage texture and charm
– A checkerboard Fireclay Tile floor in Carmine and Flake White adds movement and joy
– And the showstopper? A custom tile backsplash behind the range, designed by one of the homeowners and inspired by antique Delft patterns. It’s a personal, artistic moment that anchors the space.
We kept the original layout but upgraded the storage with interior pullouts and custom organizers — especially useful for the client, a professional butcher, who needed high-performance function in a beautiful space.
This kitchen now feels just like the family who lives there: creative, grounded, and totally one-of-a-kind.
