The clients requested a modest-sized 2 bedroom, 2 bath house with a modern farmhouse-inspired look on the exterior and a modern/industrial loft aesthetic for the interior. Situated on a small in-town infill lot in Athens, GA, the design picks up on influences from both the surrounding mill house cottages and the more industrial metal-clad buildings also present in the neighborhood. The 2nd story balcony enjoys expansive views into a natural tree-lined ravine across the street. The project won the 2014 Athens Heritage Foundation Award for Outstanding New Construction in a Historic Neighborhood.
