Modern Kitchen and Bath
In a home where the footprint of the existing kitchen, breakfast nook and family room was strongly separated. The desire was to combine the rooms into a "great room" that would also be functional for indoor/outdoor living. The design direction was contemporary and warm but not too modern. Calacutta gold marble was used for the counter tops and the gray cabinetry was a beautiful compliment to the gray veining in the marble. In contrast the upper cabinets along the window wall are gloss white adding a sense of lightness to the space.
To anchor the "cooking" wall of the room, full height cabinetry surround the stove and "frames" it while an oversized hood fan adds drama to the space. A waterfall edge on the island creates the feeling of a table.
Together these elements create an environment that easily transitions from an entertainment venue to an intimate family living space.
This bathroom had a large open space but the client still wanted a separate “his and hers” area. The tub was purposely placed perpendicular to the window which physically defined the two separate “areas”. The oval shape tub softens the space and is beautifully centered under the window.
Furthermore the client desired a sense of calm while also maintaining visual interest. Porcelain tile flooring provides the canvas for displaying twin custom vanities that feature doors and drawers in a white gloss finish with a dark espresso architectural accent that wraps over the side. The large scale shower has the walls covered in an exciting multi-tone mosaic.
The result is a bathroom that gives a strong sense of a contemporary space sustaining a spa like atmosphere.
