Modern Kitchen, Buxted Lodge- London
We were appointed to revamp this kitchen shortly after providing a turnkey design and installation of the Family bathroom located directly opposite this kitchen.
Our client generally resides in a property outside of London during the week, and stays at this London property at the weekend.
The bathroom door tends to be kept open when he is within this property, therefore we wanted to run similar colour and materials from the bathroom, to flow through to the kitchen.
Key design and technical challenges include;
The etched glass splashbacks intended to compliment the finished palette of paint colours; Working with our glass supplier, there was a time consuming process for the paint pigments to be scanned and calculations to be made and pigment levels adjusted, along with some trial and error. A number of etched glass samples were created in the process to compare the finished colour effect before we were happy to present the finish to our client for consideration.
The end result was very well received, and the satin glass finish is both easy to maintain, and looks just like a painted wall.
A second challenge was that the underlying foundations of the floor meant that there was a lot of movement resulting in the cracking of the original ceramic tiles. Not only did we present a suitable flooring porcelain large format tile to compliment the neighbouring room finishes, but also to provide a thorough and sound preparation of the underlying floor resulting in the stable foundation to lay the new flooring on.
