SW18, Large Ensuite Bathroom
We designed this Master Ensuite to meet the busy daily lives of a lovely couple with a young child.
The brief was to include his and hers basins, a large walk-in shower, a free-standing bath, storage and a soft calm colour scheme but with an element of wow factor.
We maximised the available space by creating a main zone for the bath, basins and WC, and a separate walk-in shower area which allowed a dual entry to ensure that the couple's movement throughout the bathroom flowed.
Although the room was big, our choice to section off the shower zone with a floor to ceiling stud wall meant that there was reduced natural light in the shower area, and also that the main bathroom space might appear smaller.
We decided that as the shower comprised of double no door entry, would be partially hidden. With simple ceiling spot lights and and a slightly more hidden use of the irridescent glass mosaic on the floor and running up the new wall, this zone would feel private, cosy and spectacular at the same time.
On the front of the wall we opted for fitted mirror over the entire surface. This not only made the space appear even bigger, it also bounced the natural light back into the room as well as making the bath more of a focal point.
