This urban kitchen is located in a traditional home in Montclair, NJ. The inspiration is a modern, European kitchen, with clean lines and sleek cabinets. After living in London for 6 years, our clients had a strong vision, that we helped translating into this kitchen & breakfast nook. No surprise that they selected kitchen cabinets by the Italian fabricator Scavolini. To place a generous, 9' long island we created a new layout, including moving one of the walls into the DR by 18". The new French doors lead into the back yard, providing direct access to garden & pool. The breakfast nook is placed in a small addition, that has a cathedral ceiling, emphasizing its airy feeling. One of the eye candies is the plisee-like light-fixture., often mistaken for a hood. The table and chair are design classics by Eero Saarinen.
