Our clients, who live in a beautiful Victorian in Glen Ridge, NJ, asked for a face-lift rather than a complete kitchen reno. We left plumbing and electrical untouched but designed new kitchen cabinetry. As a new element to the layout, we added a curved base-cabinet, which almost makes the kitchen feel U-shaped. It is emphasized by shelves, suspended from the ceiling. Deciding for a more contemporary raised panel, we added a transitional touch with a smokey glaze line. The new appliances continue the vintage feel. For the counter tops our clients combined granite with wood, again in an effort to bring old and new together. The back-splash tiles are handmade, raised subway tiles. To create an access we placed yellow-golden tiles behind the stove. Our clients enjoy their "new" kitchen with family and friends.
