This project was a complete transformation. The property was all neglected lawns and plants. Oh and a bonus, we discovered that there was an ocean view! The main design challenge was how to create privacy from the street above. The client couldn't open her living room windows because of people walking by. A fence wasn't an option because of permitting issues. The solution was simple really, we redesigned the entry creating a place for an antique door which effectively blocks views to the front door and living room. The other issue was that the client has dogs and we needed to keep them from jumping the fence. The door and wire fence handled that problem as well. All plants used had to be non-toxic to dogs. We created an orchard of fruit trees, a sitting area in a "forest" and a "tea garden" full of edible herbs, fruits and flowers. The result was a private sanctuary full of edible plants, flowers and trees plus raised vegetable beds.
