This is the third bath we renovated in a 30s Colonial Revival in the Portland Heights neighborhood. It was originally part of the “servants” quarters, but there aren’t any servants at the house these days, so it is a second guest quarters for the current owners.

The yellow, white, and gray palette with black accents is a classic combination for a house from this era. The floor is a Carrara and Nero Marquina basketweave mosaic. The wainscot is an Ann Sacks ceramic tile. The shower walls are crisp white Thassos with a Nero Marquina trim. We transition to the white tile in the shower because it is so small, we needed to keep it bright in there. There are several different materials mixed together, but when it is thoughtfully executed, even in this tiny space it feels very seamless.

The clients love the black toilet seat cover! Small touches have so much impact.
