Multi-level Mountainside Deck
The goal of this project was to create multiple vantage points from which to enjoy a great water view without impeding it, as well as to provide an open air structure for traversing the mountainside terrain. The result was a multi-level deck interspersed with diverse sets of stairs.
The deck is ipe, as are the built-in benches which embellish it. The use of stainless cable rails contrasts, yet also complements, the wood construction, infusing the overall design with sleekness and style while still preserving the plein-air view and providing an adequate level of safety.
This design took second place in the Wood Deck category of the 2016 NADRA National Deck competition.
