Open and Bright Kitchen and Bath (In collaboration with Mcelory Architecture)

This San Francisco home received a thoughtful, light-filled overhaul that brings a fresh sense of openness and everyday ease to both its kitchen and bathroom. It was an older home in the hills of San Francisco. With plenty of space to add an ADU. The developer purchased it for renovations and resale.

The goal was to create a luxury family compound with plenty of areas to cook and socialize, small nooks and crannies where you can enjoy the gorgeous San Francisco views, and a whole separate unit for guests and extended family members.

The kitchen and bar in the main house were sleek walnut slab cabinetry with paneled Miele appliances.

Thoughtfully designed storage — including deep drawers, pull-out shelving, and integrated cabinetry — ensures that everyday tools and appliances stay organized yet accessible, streamlining daily routines from weekday breakfasts to weekend gatherings. Large open living area connected to the kitchen but still separated clearly defined zones by the staircase enclosure.

In the bathrooms, clean lines, soft neutral colors and texture create a serene palette and a spa-like feeling. Ample lighting — both natural and layered fixtures — keeps the space bright and inviting from dawn to dusk.
In the ADU the smaller kitchen was kept light with white gloss cabinets and continued the modern theme with a concrete look countertop.

Both kitchens kept a minimalist feel and ease of maintenance by extending the countertop material into the backsplash.
