The poolside Pemberton Heights residence is a remodel and addition of an existing 1950 home located in central Austin. It included the expansion of the existing family room and kitchen areas at the rear of the home. Created was an expanded entertainment space with a tall cathedral ceiling with large arched windows facing the backyard’s existing pool and greenscaping. Its roof was kept lower than the home’s other roofs so as not to be visible from the front street. The kitchen retained its original pass-thru styled configuration, but was dramatically enlarged and updated with custom cabinetry, granite counter tops and tile back splashes. An open breakfast bar connects to the main entertainment area. Wood flooring was used matching the existing.
