This 1930's single story bungalow in the Houston Heights was completely renovated while maintaining it's roots. A new second floor master suite, laundry and mechanical room was added above and opens onto the entry atrium. The front entry was moved from the side wall to the the front wall facing the street, and a modern gas fireplace added in that corner of the Living area where the door was previously. The front bedroom was converted to the entry atrium and stairs with french doors exiting to the side yard and deck. The second floor master suite was set back from the front and narrows slightly on the sides to maintain the original roof line all around. The kitchen was opened onto the dining, living, and entry atrium. Rustic shiplap was exposed on the living/dining ceiling. The back exit through the kitchen opens onto a large wood deck area partially covered with a new roof gable to break up the rear facade. Standing metal galvalume covers the roof while structural wood brackets and columns support larger overhangs and mimic the original structural detailing.
