Rustic Chic - Weekend Getaway
This total makeover of a charming rustic, rural weekend getaway for a city couple was as much for them as it was for their beloved pet, a terrier needing lots room to run and play catch.
The project started with the demolition and redoing of a 72 foot long stone walkway through forest. I was able to match the stone on the house once we removed and redid an old cement staircase and retaining wall. To catch roof run-off by the front door, I replaced a downspout with a copper rain chain that emptied into a small dry well and also created a dry river bed to hide a PCV drainage pipe day-lighting on a slope. Foundation plantings, a collection of Sedum in the step cheek wall, an herb and four shade gardens completed the renovation.
