The first floor of this home was reconfigured by opening up the walls between the kitchen and the living room, adding a steel beam in the ceiling for structural support, and fitting a new powder room into the old secondary dining area.

The young, hip homeowners wanted a modern meets Scandinavian feel that fit in with their ethnic heritage and years spent up at the lake (hence the wood finishes).
Large family gatherings function well in this new open flow and guests don't have to use their upstairs bathroom anymore.
