Returning clients sought help with modernizing their kitchen's original 1970s dark wood cabinets, sloped terra cotta tile flooring, lack of island counter space, an imposing 90” x 36” range hood over the island, and a closed off feel from adjacent rooms.

By widening and raising the opening to the den, we brought in more light and improved circulation. We installed a new vent hood flush in the ceiling open up the sight lines, and designed a custom 6” mitered raised bar counter with waterfall end to provide a visual break, as well as a perch for guests while the chef is cooking. The entire concept comes together with a warm palette of walnut horizontal grain book matched cabinetry, granite counters, warm greige ceramic tile backsplash, 24x48” gray floor tile (with a subtle pebbled movement reminiscent of concrete or the north shore), and a wallpaper accent wall to modernize the space.
