This Bergenfield, NJ home arrived at our drawing board the way many North Jersey houses do — short on usable space for a growing family, but anchored on a lot the homeowners had no interest in leaving. The brief was straightforward: keep the address, double the home. Our design-build team delivered a full vertical addition, taking a single-story home and lifting it into a balanced two-story residence that reads as if it was always meant to stand that way. Work covered structural reinforcement of the existing first-floor framing, a new second-story envelope, a reframed roof, full mechanical and electrical extensions, and a redesigned exterior elevation that reanchors the home on the street. Inside, the new upper level houses additional bedrooms, a primary bath suite, a secondary bath, a powder room, and a stair core that ties the original floor plan to the new footprint.
