This 600 sf Green Roof in Toronto includes a combination of extensive and semi-intensive areas. The extensive area contains 4″ of specialized growing media, is covered with pre-vegetated sedum blanket and is irrigated with pop-up spray heads at the perimeter. Te semi-intensive area consists of an 8″ curvilinear berm toward the back of the garage that is planted with native plants and irrigated with drip emitter hose. The taller plants at the back will add considerable visual interest throughout the year and screen unwanted views beyond. As part of a LEED project, storm water captured in a cistern beneath the garage is used to irrigate the green roof during severe drought periods.
