This original Mid-century home at the Hilltop neighborhood of Somerset in Bellevue (WA) was designed specifically for a young family who wanted primarily to create highly functional spaces, update the look while keeping the era of the house and last but not least, enjoy the panoramic views of Bellevue and Seattle.

The project entailed the remodel of the kitchen, 2 dining areas and 3 bathrooms. It included the removal of walls to create an open space between kitchen and dining areas, along with the placement of an extra-large kitchen island to create a central focal point. A secondary feature, the dinette area, maintains the original glass windows along with new swank retro design details and bench seating for extra storage.

The spaces of the Master & kids' baths together with an awkward walk-in closet were entirely re-designed to create a better flow and answer the specific needs of every member of the family.

ID by Gwen's primary design goal for the whole project was to retain the mid-century vibe throughout the areas and achieve flexible, simple and intuitive use of space, while invoking surprise and delight with unique pairings and eye-catching materials (waterfall white quartz countertops, original brick wall, mix of cabinetry, beautiful tiles and fixtures).

Gwen's favorite detail? The Terzani Mizu pendants in the kitchen. Just stunning in the space!
