South End Sanctuary

Between Lawrence and Appleton Streets in Boston's South End, forming the 'garden alley path' between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets, are 57 privately owned garden spaces. Each around 320 square feet with a 6' high fence. The air is charged with the sounds of children playing, family's dinnertime activities, music, the occasional quarrel. While the Owner of this historic garden level brick rowhouse is drawn to the energy and bustle of Bostson's South End, she wanted a garden space in which she could just relax and enjoy some peace in quiet....in the middle of it all.
