Stone and Shingle Manor
The new home, constructed in 2004, sits on a secluded lot with a pastoral views of shady woodlands and an open meadow rolling down to the Sudbury River. A chipseal parking court bordered by ample cobble bands is contained by the house, garage and fieldstone walls. The front walk is constructed of granite sets with a bluestone band surrounding a reclaimed granite millstone found on site. Another reclaimed millstone was used as a step at the small bluestone terrace off the kitchen. This terrace provides a quiet, intimate sitting area in contrast to the large deck off the back of the house which contains an outdoor fireplace and is perfect for entertaining. Woodland groundcovers and bulbs soften the edges of the shady driveway, while the sunny backyard is perfect for a large perennial border of peonies, grasses and colorful flowers for cutting. A series of stone walls and a grass ramp bring the four active boys from the deck down to a sport court.
