The Birch Loft

This renovation in Portland, Oregon transformed a garage from a dark storage space into an open and vibrant environment. It has become an enjoyable space to use and a highly profitable short term vacation rental.

A sleeping loft with a starry night view and a sleeper sofa help the small space accommodate up to four people overnight. An efficient kitchenette was added for basic cooking.

Two new folding doors completely open up to the west and the north. Each of the doors are protected from the weather by custom, powder-coated steel plate awnings.

Birch plywood paneling at wall and ceiling finishes, floating shelves, cabinets, and the sleeping loft tie the space together and create a comfortable atmosphere.
