Mechanism Architecture

Adam is a superb designer and really enjoyable to do projects with. I have collaborated with Mechanism on a number of projects and watched Adam's design work for almost a decade now. He leads a great design process, first trying to hear what his clients needs and dreams are, then turning that into a clean, modern, fun, and enjoyable place to live or spend time. I recommend Mechanism for any project you care about.

We chose Mechanism for the design of a modern cabin in early 2020 after interviewing 4 other firms and I couldn't be happier with our choice to work with Adam. My wife and I had been dreaming about and planning a modern cabin build for the better part of 5 years, and the final design exceeded our expectations. We had a tricky site with a steep grade and several views to maximize, which posed some unique design challenges. We also had a fairly well defined style we were looking to accomplish . Adam and the mechanism team listened and applied our desires while also pushing back (respectfully and where necessary) in an effort to produce a better end product. The result is a design that checks all the boxes: it nailed the style we wanted, it is achievable within our budget, and meets all our needs for livability. A+ for the design I think equally important to the design is the process we took to get there, which was super fun and stress free. Adam did a great job of managing the process and every interaction with the Mechanism team was positive. They were great listeners and communicators, feedback was welcomed, and they were excellent in managing timelines (only delays were my fault). Overall, Adam and the team went above and beyond to make us comfortable with the process. I'd recommend Mechanism to others and hope to use them again on our next project, whatever that happens to be....

I reached out to Adam Lawler when I was looking for help in building a mother-in-law dwelling on my daughter's property. I needed help with everything. I had no experience in building a house, or for that matter even knowing if I would be able to downsize, how much it would cost and how to find contractors etc. To make matters more difficult, I didn't even know what or where the property would be, since my daughter was still looking for a place to buy. I wanted to first get information on the general footprint of my project and construction costs to determine the feasibility of even doing this. Adam was professional and patient, explaining things step by step and what his function would be in the process. He understood exactly what I needed and provided it. I would highly recommend Adam Lawler to anyone who doesn't know where to begin or who to trust as well as anyone who knows exactly what he wants but needs a professional to execute it.

When our company began considering a remodel of an existing building for our catering production kitchen and tasting room, we immediately became overwhelmed with the potential obstacles of architectural documents, the city permitting process and needing design advice grounded in the current construction trends. Adam jumped right into our project and worked with us on the front end of what our exact needs were (we felt confident in the initial phases of schematics, space planning, finish selections, but lacked knowledge on everything else), and built a process around what we needed. He took the lead when necessary and was gracious when we had preferences and specific desires for our final product. We felt confident with the exhaustive and thorough research he did on the necessary building codes, and he helped usher the plans through the painful permitting steps- he and his team were so fast and responsive when changes needed to be made. Upon breaking ground he continued to remain attentive to our project when on-site questions arose and giving us guidance when unexpected building dilemmas happened (which they always do!). Mechanism completely helped us achieve our vision of a vibrant tasting room and bustling production kitchen out of an empty broken down shell of an old warehouse.
