The Collector's Media Console
This Media Console was designed for a home entertainment collector and enthusiast. It features a large storage drawer lined with padded fabric for gentle device storage, and 4 cabinet doors to keep a massive media collection behind. The design is focused on a mid-century inspiration, while questioning some of the norms of cabinetmaking in it's execution. The front facade is comprised of 3 main columns which support the top. The drawer's pull is integrated as a faux link in the central column of the unit, which strips the overall appearance down to a more pure, minimal aesthetic. It was designed from the ground up for each piece of media and technology it houses, and how each is to be used.
The drawer and door faces are made from solid North American Maple, as is most of the unit. The top is a butcher block made of reclaimed Douglas Fir, originally found in a Manitoba grain elevator.
