The Craftsman Perspective
This 1960's home revealed hints of the craftsman style this homeowner sought to revive with this kitchen renovation. After doing a full demo to the small galley kitchen we opened up the wall that leads into the dining room, took the full walls of original slatted wood down to wainscoting and capped off with decorative chair rail.
The charm continues with this unexpected, diamond shaped slate backsplash that complements the multicolored quartz countertops. All appliances are stainless steel with white 'wainscot' paneled cabinetry, soft close drawers and black hardware.
This aging-in-place kitchen features under cabinet lighting for safety and sight while the lower roll out cabinetry and trash bins are within easy reach. The built-in pantry houses multi-levels of shelving with pendant lighting and french glass doors, whereas the engineered hardwood floors were chosen for upkeep and aesthetics and the undermount sink is dressed with a pull out sprayer for easy maneuver.
By opening up the kitchen into the dining room and relocating the fridge and range this kitchen gained space and function.
