Simple backyard corner, typically water-logged for many days after the rains. In response to our client friends' vision of a place of contemplation and solitude, we designed and constructed the bluestone patio with a quaint little waterfall embraced by plants and stone, to lull the spirit into the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape.

Together we then turned our attention to the frontyard. We replaced the existing broken walkway with a gently curved bluestone path; we built the pergola to make cozy the porch beneath; we nudged stone into friendly groups and gave them the companionship of trees. From the living room, the home is now a more restful, private place. From the street sidewalk, the home gives smiles to passers-by and says welcome to all who fall for the charms of Northwest Craftsman style and landscape.
