The Hyde Park Penthouse Project
Hyde Park, London, SW7 - Principal Architects, Interior Design and Builders
Our client appointed Dominic Payte as architects, interior designer, and contractor in the 4th quarter of 2021 regarding their recently purchased apartment located within the Hyde Park area. The apartment has an approximate internal size approaching 4,000 Sqf and is also a duplex penthouse with two outside terraces. The apartment is the largest in size within one of the most prestigious blocks in the neighborhood, also located within a conservation area.
The project has been developed from conception to completion through the RIBA stages. Consent from the Freeholder and management company was obtained, and Planning Permission from the Westminster Council was successfully granted.
The design brief was for the re-location of the main stairwell, with a new spiral staircase purpose made for the apartment. Also, a new layout change within the scope of the works, replacing windows, and adding two pergolas to the terrace. Also, there was the total refurbishment of the apartment, with an electricity upgrade needed to 350 volts. Other features included the curved ceiling was wallpapered in their main lounge leading to the main terrace.
The apartment had remained unaltered since the early 80s, so the challenge required a complete transformation involving a total strip-out and restoration project, along with electric underfloor heating throughout.
The project was delivered within budget with no cost overruns.
