The Alvah Kelsey home was built in 1841 along Moose Hill Road in Guilford, CT. The current estate includes a 3,500 square feet main house and over 2,500 sq ft of stately barns and outbuildings sited on over 2 acres of lovely yards and gardens. Our clients were interested in renovating the main house and creating a separate home in a portion of the barns to accommodate their multi-generational family. In the main house we focused on renovations that would make the snug rooms feel brighter, elegant and updated, including modifications to the kitchen, master bedroom and mudroom entry. In the barn design, we celebrated the rustic charm and generous ceiling heights of the old structure while crafting engaging living spaces for a young family.
