The White House

The goal was to create a control system for a busy family with double twins. We have also received very strict instructions to keep the walls free of any unnecessary electronic equipment.

The house automation is based on the Control4 system. As discussed with the clients, the most important subsystems were security, whole house music and video distribution.

Six audio sources are spread throughout living and entertaining spaces in and outside the home, totaling 12 independent zones, including one controlling the speakers on the back yard basketball court. In addition there are 2 surround sound systems (basement, family room).

Basement media room is an entertainment center for a whole family. Not only was to watch movies, but it designed also as a game room. It was planned from the beginning to place all gaming equipment in a rack. The only gaming item in a room itself is Kinect sensor. Family room system is designed for watching movies.

Kid’s rooms have ports to connect their iPhones to play music through-out the entire house or only in their rooms. They can still control the device while music is playing. Every family member can play own type of music. Since they do not have TVs in the rooms or any other means of control it is important to control the system via iPhone.

There are custom features programmed to enhance system functionality (eg. “Good Night”, Wake-up”, “Party”, “Homework Time”, …) Doorbell is also programmed to play announcement via speakers throughout the house.

The homeowners were adamant that there be virtually no equipment or technology on the walls. All electronic equipment is hidden except for two 7” touch-panels. First is installed in the kitchen area and second in a master suite. Remaining equipment is installed either in a basement rack or in an adjacent closets. Whole system could be controlled from any one of them or from any remote controller, iPhone, iPad or computer.

There total of (4) televisions and a projector in a basement media room. HDMI video switch (4x4) shares all video sources between connected televisions. The connected video sources are: cable TV receivers with DVR feature, Blu-ray, AppleTV.

We have fulfilled all clients’ needs while giving him a system that can grow with evolving technology. We also created very practical system which offers style, functionality and ease of use.
