Time was a big time constraint for that project. We had literally a few days to select the equipment, properly wire the condo, install and program equipment and have a system up and running before a big day (client’s husband birthday party). All communication with a client occurred via phone or email, since the clients’ main residence is in Palos Verdes Estates in California. At the same time we had to watch out not to be crushed by the other trades, who faced the same deadline remodeling the apartment.
The objective of the project was to create simple, easy to operate entertainment system. Very important was aesthetic of chosen equipment which had to blend in with interiors of the unit located on the 53rd floor of Chicago downtown high-rise. The system needed to be easy to operate to every family member and guest.
The installation features the multi-room audio system, which allows the client to enjoy different music in different rooms.Since the speakers had to be surface mounted, their look had to be approved by an interior designer. The Boston Acoustics SoundWare series met the aesthetic requirements providing the clients with a nice smooth sound throughout the whole space.The available audio sources include Blu-ray, Cable TV receiver, AppleTV, iPhone/iPod docking station.
There is also a dedicated entertainment center where client can enjoy watching TV and movies in 3D format. Available video sources are: Cable HD TV receiver, AppleTV, Blu-ray. The other TV is located in a master bedroom and has its own dedicated cable TV receiver.
The system is tied together by Control4 and could be easy accessible from any remote controller, 7” in-wall touch screen, iPod or iPhone. The custom programmed features like “Party Mode” and pre-settings for TV watching enhanced the system overall functionality.
The secure access to wired and wireless internet was configured in a whole apartment.
Simplicity of the system operation was a key element of the project so the client did not have to spend time figuring out how to control a system.
At the end we provided a system that exceeded our client’s demands and expectations. We did so while discreetly incorporating all technology to allow beautiful views and interior designs of the apartment take a center stage.
