Safety First. As part of a new focus on Universal, All-Inclusive, Changing Lifestyles, Aging in Place- a designer has the responsibility to look ahead for client's need in this area, whether that is accommodate older relatives or to insure the safety of younger children. In this home there was a step down from a foyer, living, and kitchen area into a large great room. We installed a traditional handrail at each area as well as a tiny recessed light to highlight these areas. This is especially helpful in the areas where the color of the floor does not change so the step down is not terribly noticeable. The railing is by Artistic Brass- oil rubbed bronze reeded grab bar and the recessed light is a LED light by NSL Mini Disc Scoop.
