This project was completed for longtime Create clients, Brent and Laura. The original thought was to construct a much needed home office above the garage to accommodate the couple's work needs and double as the library Laura always dreamed of to house her vast collection of books. The couple also hoped to convert a section of the basement into a Wine Tasting Room. Laura and Brent have a love for the Napa Valley and frequently take long weekend trips there. In addition to their wine collection, they have an unusual assortment of wine memorabilia amassed from their travels over the years. After exploring multiple design options and massaging the budget, it was decided that the best alternative would be to convert a section of the basement into a "WineBrary" as Laura refers to it. A small sitting room on the main floor of the home would be converted into the new home office, an essential element of the project.



Custom bookshelves were designed and constructed of poplar and birch. Arched openings with fluted casings were designed to the client's specifications. Eye brow panel doors were chosen to mirror the arch detail of the custom cabinetry. HVAC was relocated to allow for greater ceiling height. A bench seat was constructed for added seating and storage. Laminate crafted maple flooring was chosen to complement the stain color selection. Every detail was project specific and customized to the homeowner's specifications.



The end result was an amazing transformation of space and functionality inspired by the homeowners' needs and passion for how they live. The couple truly could not be more thrilled!
