1950s Kitchen Update - Dallas

According to the homeowner, there wasn’t much that could be done to transform their tiny 1950s kitchen, but boy were they wrong! The original kitchen was closed off from the main living and dining areas and overall lacked adequate cabinet storage and countertop space. A water heater closet occupied valuable real estate and the washer and dryer were stacked in a hallway between the kitchen and bedrooms.
The first step was to open the kitchen to the family room, dining room and den. To do so, a pony wall was removed from one end and a doorway on another wall was replaced with an enlarged opening to the dining/living room. Next, the water heater was relocated to garage and the hall to the laundry room was closed off to create more cabinet space. With the additional cabinet space, the homeowner was able to move all the small appliances into the pantry, thus decluttering her countertops.
The sitting island created one of the biggest challenges. The amount of walkway space needed around the island limited how big we could make it. With some careful calculations and double checking the math, the perfect sized island was designed to fit the space as well as maintain a balanced, eye-appealing view from all angles.
Finally, the client requested a custom green paint for the island cabinets and range hood, which CWP matched precisely.
Throughout the entire process, the designer and project manager, along with their subcontractors and material suppliers, made sure every detail was right. And when the project wrapped up with the client smiling and saying, “I love my new kitchen!”, it was all well worth it.
