Addison l L-Shaped Kitchen Update

To say these homeowners loved to entertain is an understatement. Always happy to host, they often had anywhere from five to fifty family members and friends over at any given time. Unfortunately, their outdated kitchen lacked the necessary layout and space for such gatherings. The L-shaped, narrow design, combined with insufficient storage, made it a host’s nightmare.
Armed with this information, the designer set to work on creating more space, storage, and flow while keeping the general footprint of the kitchen. To increase storage, the laundry room was relocated from the end of the kitchen to the primary bathroom. Cabinet soffits were removed, and new cabinets were designed to extend to the ceiling. Drawers replaced cabinets under the counter, and a touch-open drawer was cleverly built into the toe-kick where possible.
To improve flow, the pantry was relocated to facilitate easier entry and exit from the kitchen. A corner workstation was installed, allowing more than one person to work at the sink and creating a seamless transition from one leg of the kitchen to the other. Cabinet panels were added along the side of the fridge to give the illusion of more cabinets and to make the space appear longer.
Additional updates included replacing the laminate countertop, removing the popcorn ceiling, and modernizing the appliances. Lighter colors were used to brighten the kitchen while maintaining a neutral palette.
