Thibodaux | Beautiful, Usable Kitchen
This kitchen design was the 3rd of 4 projects Kitchen, Bath and Home has done for the client. The house was a new build in Louisiana, so our team was literally working with a blank slate, which created one of our biggest challenges - designing against “imaginary” walls that had not been built yet and that could change at a moment’s notice. Kitchen, Bath and Home stationed a man on location to check on the progress week-by-week while communicating details to our design team in Dallas.
Overall, the client wanted the kitchen design to capture the history and feel of Louisiana’s old French culture while maintaining functionality. Fixtures, flooring and even the “X” molding in the cabinet doors plus cabinet features such as a pop-up mixer stand and rollout shelves came together to create a usable, but beautiful space.
The eye is instantly drawn to the center of the kitchen by mirror-image cabinetry, as well as the strategically placed island, sink, range, and light fixtures. The Kitchen, Bath and Home designer created additional symmetry by balancing the off-center window on the left with the door frame on the right. As a final touch of drama, cabinets, trim and crown molding were custom designed to accommodate the 12-foot ceilings.
The client was thrilled with the final results – a workable, welcoming space that captured Louisiana’s beautiful architectural accents.
