A Classical Revival Townhouse
Located on a block of Classical houses, this townhouse had was positioned between a modern home and a Georgian apartment building. With a desire to bridge the gap between these two adjacent structures, Andrew Skurman Architects kept the scale small and narrow, while adding architectural statements including four Doric columns sitting upon a plinth facing the street. This created a dialogue between three homes, resulting in a smooth transition from one facade to the other. The team also factored in the client's love of motorcycles and cars, pulling the garage forward to the front of the house in order to provide ample space for storage and repairs, without encroaching on the rear garden.
